Working with Selected Cells


Because of the sheet's predefined precedence, as described in Precedence of Settings, cells can have information stored for them at four levels:

When you perform an action on a cell, such as moving the cell, only the information stored for the cell itself is acted on. For example, if you copy a cell, the background color defined for the cell is also copied; however, the background color defined for the cell's column, row, or the entire sheet is not copied.

Logically, when you set a characteristic for a column, a row, or the entire sheet, that setting is not stored for the cell, and therefore is not included in actions performed on the cell.
