Using the Schema Designer > Relationships > Join Type |
The join type combo box allows you to specify one of the four join types: inner, outer, full and two-way outer. Inner, outer and full joins have their usual SQL meaning.
Inner join (supported by all databases) means that only matching records present in both views (tables) will appear in the result.
Outer join (supported by most but not all databases) means that records of the first view (table) will appear in the result even if there are no matching records in the second view (table). First is the view selected in the left combo box, second – the one selected in the right combo box.
Full join (unsupported by some databases) means that records from both tables will appear in the result, regardless of whether or not they have matches in the other table.
