Installing True DataControl 8.0 for Active X

True DataControl 8.0 can be installed by downloading it from http://www.componentone.com or by using the ComponentOne CD and walking through the installation wizard. When you are prompted, enter your serial number and complete the online registration.

The following files will be installed into your Windows\System directory or, if you use Windows NT, into your WinNT\System and WinNT\System32 directories. To use True DataControl8 in your Visual Basic projects, you must include these files in the project:

TRUEDC8.ocx

xadb8.ocx

TDBWSnk6.dll

The following folders will be created by the setup utility:

ComponentOne\Studio for ActiveX

Directory used to store ComponentOne control information.

ComponentOne\Studio for ActiveX\True DataControl 8.0

Contains sample projects and a README.TXT file with information about True DataControl 8.0.

Note:If you are using a 64-bit machine and need to use ComponentOne ActiveX controls in Visual Studio, you must install both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of the controls.

Samples

Samples for the product are installed in the ComponentOne Samples folder by default. The path of the ComponentOne Samples directory is slightly different on Windows XP and Windows 7/Vista machines:

Windows XP path: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\ComponentOne Samples

Windows 7/Vista path: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\ComponentOne Samples
