ComponentOne True DataControl 8.0
Fields, Parameters and Expressions

This chapter explains the different types of variables (fields and parameters) in True DataControl and how they are used to form expressions.

A TData control operates on fields and parameters. Both are considered variables because you can refer to them in expressions as well as in code. At design time, you define variables using the Fields and Parameters property pages. You can also define variables at run time by manipulating the collections returned by the Fields and Parameters properties. These collections allow you to examine and modify variable values in code, if desired.

Almost every key feature of the product involves building an expression, so it is important that you understand the fundamental concepts of True DataControl expressions.
