Encoding

QRCode consists of four encoding modes:

Numeric: Can encode digits 0 - 9.
AlphaNumeric: Can encode digits 0 - 9, upper case letters A - Z and some other characters like space $ % * + - . / : ),.
Byte: By default, can encode ISO/IEC 8859-1. It may also encode some other sets that have been defined.
Automatic: Sets the encoding mode depending on the text added to the control.

The alphanumeric mode compresses a message more than the byte mode, but it is unable to store lower case alphabets and can store only a few punctuation marks.

Complete the following steps, to change the encoding mode of the QRCode control.

In the Designer

Click the Smart Tag. The C1QRCode Tasks Menu appears.
Select the encoding mode from the Encoding combobox, as per your requirement.
Alternatively, right click the QRCode and select Properties to open the Properties window. Set the Encoding property in the Properties window.

In Source View

Set the Encoding property within the <cc1:C1QRCode> tag, to change the encoding mode of the QRCode.

What You've Accomplished

The encoding mode has been changed to Byte, so characters including lower case letters, digits as well as punctuations can be encoded into the QRCode.
