This function returns the straight-line depreciation of an asset for one period.

Syntax

SLN(cost,salvage,life)

Arguments

This function has these arguments:

Argument Description
cost Initial cost of the asset
salvage Value at the end of the depreciation
life Number of periods over which the asset is being depreciated

Data Types

Accepts numeric data for all arguments. Returns numeric data.

Examples

SLN(B1,1000,10)

SLN(R1C2,1000,10)

SLN(500000,20000,5) gives the result $96,000
