ComponentOne List 8.0 for ActiveX
Using the Style Factory property page

When you select a root-level Style object in the Style Factory property tree, the input controls shown in the preceding illustration are displayed, enabling you to add new styles, remove existing styles, and preview sample formatting.

New Style Name

This edit control specifies the name of the style to be added. It corresponds to the style's Name property.

New

This command button attempts to create a new style using the name specified in the New Style Name edit control. An error message will be displayed if you do not specify a unique name.

Note that newly created styles automatically inherit their attributes from the selected style in the property tree. If you want a new style to inherit its attributes from a different named style, you can expand its property tree node and change the value of its Parent property.

Reset

This command button resets the selected style so that it inherits all of its font, color, and formatting attributes from its parent, if any. For styles with no parent, the Reset button causes the selected style to revert to its original settings.

Remove

This command button deletes the selected style and removes it from the Styles collection. You can remove any style, even if it is a built-in style, and even if other styles inherit from it. If you remove a style that is a parent of another style, the child style subsumes any characteristics that the parent specialized, but the child's own settings take precedence.

Sample

This static area displays sample text that shows how a list cell will appear when the selected style is applied. Whenever you change a font, color, or alignment setting, you can select the affected style object in the property tree to view an updated sample area, enabling you to see the results of the change before committing it with either the OK or Apply button.
