ComponentOne True DBList 8.0 includes two data-aware ActiveX controls for Microsoft Visual Studio: TDBList, a data-aware multicolumn list box, and TDBCombo, a data-aware multicolumn combo box. Patterned after the DBList and DBCombo controls of Visual Basic, both TDBList and TDBCombo are automatically populated from one or more fields in an attached Data control, and can optionally update a field in a related table of another Data control. With the exception of the text box portion of the TDBCombo control, both controls are identical.

Unlike the DBList and DBCombo controls of Visual Basic, True DBList 8.0 is based on the same underlying technology as ComponentOne's award-winning True DBGrid Pro 8.0, making it a robust, versatile, and easy-to-use data presentation tool. Novice programmers can use True DBList 8.0 to easily implement multicolumn lookup tables with incremental search.Professional developers can take full advantage of the many properties and events of True DBList 8.0 to create sophisticated and user-friendly database front-end applications.

Using the latest data binding technologies built into Visual Basic, True DBList 8.0 completely manages the database interface, allowing developers to concentrate on important application-specific tasks. Incremental search	End-users can quickly locate list items by typing. Supports both single-character matching and an incremental search mode that concatenates typed characters to further refine the search.
Automatic field completion	Works in concert with incremental search to fill the text portion of a combo with matching field data as characters are typed.
Excel and Word-like styles	Style objects encapsulate font, color, and formatting information, facilitating easy customization of list components at design time and run time.

Data-sensitive display	Powerful regular expression facility can be used to apply different styles to individual cells depending upon their contents. For example, negative numbers can be shown in red, or fields containing a particular substring can be shown in bold.
Interactive visual editing	Programmers can create columns, retrieve field layouts from a bound data source, resize list components, and configure all aspects of the list layout at design time---no coding is required.
Flexible unbound modes	Event-driven unbound modes handle any data source and are ideal for displaying array data, connecting to a proprietary database, or eliminating the overhead associated with data controls.
Unbound columns	The list supports unbound columns while other columns are bound to a data control.
Array-based storage mode	The XArrayDB object included with True DBList Pro 8.0 works just like a Visual Basic array, but also acts as a data source for the list. No unbound events to code!

Reusable list layouts	List layouts can be saved to a file, then reused in other projects.
